In a podcast from Ted Radio hour, the host discusses the hidden power that design has in all of our lives. When sitting down with a co-creator of Airbnb, Joe Gebbia, they speak about whether it is possible to design for trust. Every part of Airbnb’s website format has been meticulously thought out, from the requirement of a profile picture, to the color palette, to the length of the bio in profiles. All of these elements were meant to foster a sense of trust between the renter and the homeowner, something without which Airbnb would not be possible. This shows how design has very impactful subconscious effects, which help to ultimately further its purpose.
