When editing our mini documentary for project 4, I kept thinking about elements of movie trailers that always stood out to me: prominent music, voiceovers, and significant scenes. This article was an interesting read because it talks about how the process of making a trailer for a movie, and I was surprised to know that this task is outsourced to marketing agencies, which actually makes a lot of sense. This explains why trailers might contain spoilers, but also why a lot of them are so effective – they have been rigorously tested and workshopped, and a lot of thought goes into making them eye-catching even on a tiny phone screen.
