Recently this year, we lost one of the most influential writers and artists of all time, Stan Lee. He co-created some of the most classic super-heroes, like Spiderman, the Hulk, Iron Man, and Black Panther, among many more.
He was considered to be the godfather of comics, but did not complete his journey without self doubt and criticism from others. In fact, one of his most notable quotes is:
“I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain, you’re doing a good thing.”
Sometimes, it takes a while for you to realize that you are doing what you should be doing. I couldn’t imagine a world where Stan Lee had taken a medical career.
Rest in peace. Excelsior!
