Chinatown Soup released a ‘new version’ of Monopoly that highlights gentrification in the game’s notable features like its landmarks, its ‘Chance’ cards (one of which reads “Convert a tenement building into a condo, donate $200 to the Community Center for displacing the elderly”, another reading “Yelp review spread rumors of rat poison contamination at local establishments; all restaurant owners cannot accept money for two rounds”).
It reminds me of Project 1.2 in that we are taking something so known and so common (i.e. a Monopoly board) and tweaking and designing to evoke interest in a pressing societal issue.
