Though perhaps considered a bit “undistinguished”, Instagram is my favorite platform for sharing and finding art. One of my favorite Instagram artists, known as TS Abe, has been compiling a series of animated sketches over the past year or so. She calls her collection #TheScrollSeries.
The majority of my practice as an artist is in traditional fine art (that is: physical pen, pencil, paint). Perhaps one of the reasons I find her work so compelling is because it takes a physical graphite work and creates a beautiful animation of it. Each of the frames are individually hand drawn, giving the animation a gritty, hand-made feel. To me, her art perfectly represents the Instagram art culture: digital fine art.
