Instagrams Impact on How We View Art

Museums and galleries are being designed to have more selfie friendly exhibits and are increasingly encouraging people to share their images. Instagram is driven by aesthetics, and celebrates color and whimsy. With the Museum of Ice Cream, the trend of immersive museums that emphasize color and creating  moments that are “insta-worthy” began. These museums tap into the desire to not just experience something, but to be seen actually experiencing it. More traditional museums are embracing Instagram, where once phones/ cameras were seen as taboo, museums are now embracing social media by placing hashtags near the displays.
