This past Fall Break, I went to New York with a few friends. Of course, we wanted to look at all of the art in our surroundings and we were lucky enough to be there on a Friday and so we took advantage of Free MOMA Friday’s! I was able to see Van Gogh’s Starry Night for the first time in my life. I couldn’t help but notice the insane amount of people waiting in a mob to snap a photo of the piece. I loved looking but it was impossible not to notice. Later in the day, my friends and I wanted to look at the Supreme store in Soho. When we arrived, we realized that there were three lines wrapped around three different corners and that it would take 2 hours to even get into the store, not even knowing what lays inside. It made me think, what types of art are we willing to wait for? Is waiting in line outside of Supreme much different than waiting to take a picture of Starry Night? Let me know what you think! I attached photos from google of both spectacles below.
