Yayoi Kusama’s Art of Polka Dots

As someone who has not much background in abstract or modern art, I was aware of the artist Yayoi Kusama due to the sheer popularity of her works in Korea. I had the privilege of seeing her signature pumpkin sculpture everyday in the cafe of my apartment’s community center as it decorated the space for several years. Her artworks continue to intrigue me as they’re very distinct and stylistic — the great variety of works she produces with such a particular style amazes me.

Even her exhibition of the ‘Infinity Mirrors’ have the repetitive / circular element that she pursues to almost dominate in the field of modern art.
